Innocence of My Evil

Personal Evil Begins at Conception

Innocence of My Evil {Sin}
Begins at Conception (Ps 51:5)

I have not met or read anyone admitting that he or she awoke and decided to do evil, of whatever ilk. The most notorious political leaders of the 2oth century which people today point back to as the personification of evil, never saw themselves as evil. Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Churchill and FDR all saw themselves as justified in pursuing their policies for the betterment of their people and themselves; yet, each leader was responsible for millions of deaths either overtly or covertly. In my over forty years of speaking to people about God’s salvation, the one consistent fact is that people do not see themselves as sinners, evil; hence, they do not need Christ’s salvation (Ro 3:21-24). To rephrase a line from Benjamin Franklin in the play, 1776, “Evil is only observed in the third personal, ‘your evil’ but never in the first person, ‘my evil!'” (Mt 7:1-5) Continue reading “Innocence of My Evil”

Is Rousseau’s “General Will” Valid Today?

Rousseau Government's Truth

Is Rousseau’s “General Will” Valid Today?
It is the Heart of Rousseau’s Concept of Truth

I have dealt with this concept of General Will beginning with, Father of the Never Ending Revolution, Rousseau. History is the key to understanding today but Satan is the master of delusion; is the concept of General Will valid or relevant for today and if so, under what label does it persist? Postmodernism claims to be new but in fact its lie was evident in the first sin when Satan deliberately misrepresented God’s words to Woman creating doubt in her mind to tempt her to substitute her truth for God’s truth (Ge 3:1-5; Ro 1:18-28). Today it flies under the radar by another name, worldview. It is in this iteration that it has entered Christianity to wreck havoc in the Church {Pergamum and Thyatira for examples} (Re 2:12-29). Rousseau would have been proud of his work. Continue reading “Is Rousseau’s “General Will” Valid Today?”

What is Your Truth Source?

Asebeia Truth (Lie)

Asebeia Life Truth
Navigating Life

What is Your Truth Source? I do not ask this from a Postmodern perspective your truth is right only for you. This answer is meaningless as a basis for discussing any truth among people and it is not honest. Events of the past twenty years have shown that people must have the right truth or be rejected from society; basis of today’s cancel culture. The question rings down through history since Adam but specifically from Pilate’s discussion with Christ (Jn 18:37-38). This question is vital in everyone’s life to understand the one choice that lasts throughout eternity: salvation. Continue reading “What is Your Truth Source?”

Worldview of Unforgiving Piety

Worldview reduces complex concepts
Into meaningless rhetoric

The current political rhetoric has devolved into pietistic moralistic charge and counter-charge as each talking head seeks to capture the high moral ground while illustrating that the other side spews forth the rhetoric of hate. Yes, it is time for another presidential election cycle to begin. The charge of hate is the latest concept being used to discredit anyone and anything with which you disagree, regardless of the historical period or circumstances. Worldview “Always a Flaw in the System”

One’s Worldview is One’s Holodeck
Recreating Reality in Our Image

Our two previous posts looking at worldviews defined the term worldview and the force outside of ourselves that molded our worldview {Can You Define Your Worldview?; Your Virtual Reality Worldview}. Our understanding of worldview changed as our understanding probed deeper into the complexities of worldview formation. This worldview article will explore our responsibility in the formation of our worldviews. The holodeck in Star Trek, The Next Generation {STTNG} was designed to respond to the operators wishes, within certain poorly defined limits; yet, it often revealed the flaws in human understanding. This is a metaphor for our part in designing our worldview: poorly defined flaws. Continue reading “Worldview “Always a Flaw in the System””

Your Virtual Reality Worldview

Purpose of the movie The Matrix:
Was Choice or Non-choice

One’s worldview is difficult to grasp if this is a new concept. The movie, Matrix, believed that people, reality, were captives of machines, computers. These computers controlled people by giving them a false reality. The majority of people were docile but a minority refused to believe in the reality of the matrix; thus, they rebelled; exercised choice. In reality, they had no choice at all; it was simply another form of illusion. One’s worldview is the interpreter of perceived reality; thus, one’s worldview is one’s matrix or interface between self and all else.  In one sense this is very true: Welcome to the Bible. Can You Define Your Worldview?

Everyone has a worldview
Few think about their worldview

Worldview is the “overall perspective from which one sees and interprets the world” (Wordnik). This standard definition has little meaning to the average person. I was not familiar with this term until about ten years ago and I have discovered precious few people who give any thought to their worldview. Yet, the worldview is the lens by which each person interacts with political, social and physical environment. Can you elucidate your worldview? Continue reading “Can You Define Your Worldview?”

Modern Man’s Delusional Worldview

Modern Man’s Delusional Worldview
Supported by Philosophy and Religion

The book of Job contains four false views of God based mainly on each person’s imagination. Job the pietistic, but lost religionist; Bildad the harsh legalistic moralist; Zophar the sarcastic scoffer; and Eliphaz the spiritualistic mystic. It is not until Elihu speaks that we discover Job’s true nature: sinful because he has condemned God rather than himself. God enters the scene instructing Job about his profound ignorance. This is when Job repents and experiences Old Testament salvation. This very first book penned is philosophical displaying man’s profound ignorance while wallowing in the mud of his knowledge (2Pe 2:20-22). Man had the truth of God but instead chose the fleeting pleasures of sin; and died (Ro 1:18-25; He 11:23-25). Continue reading “Modern Man’s Delusional Worldview”

Unbiased Worldviews are Incoherent

World Equates Biases with Prejudice
Unbiasedness Must Therefore be Good

This of course is the False Dilemma logical fallacy forcing a conclusion which appears correct but is in fact incorrect. Both the Lost and Christians charge into this false dilemma based on false assumptions, incorrect worldviews and willful ignorance of history.  In fact, without bias one cannot have a coherent worldview of any sort! Logos of God or Logos of Man?

Logos of Man Oft Confused With
Gnosticism – False Knowledge

Isaiah’s ministry was to relay God’s message to he is contemporary Jews to blind them to the truth of God and harden their hearts against His gospel (Is 6:10). If this is true then the obvious conclusion is that God becomes the unjust Judge of sinners. Or, perhaps one is not reading the passage correctly and it is a symptom of one’s Logos that man find guilt with God to excuse his own sin.
